TSP  two stage split case water pumps incorporate two single suction impellers placed back-to-back to eliminate axial thrust load. More favorable specific speed ensures higher efficiency and more stable head-capacity characteristics when compared to single stage pump for the same duty. Some of the very high head designs incorporate external cross-over from first to second stage to minimize flow losse.
